Epidemiological profile of orthopedic patients treated at Physiotherapy in a Rehabilitation Center

Abstract

Stemming from the identification of the epidemiological profiling through the occurrence of the most frequent orthopedic pathologies, the physiotherapist can intervene in the specific need’s individual. In this sense, the present study had as its goal to outline the epidemiological profile of patients received at the specialized rehabilitation center, to the sociodemographic profile; list the main pathologies which affect patients by age and sex; elaborate a booklet of postural guidelines and stretches for the most common orthopedic pathology. The applied methodology was a cross-sectional documentary research, descriptive type and with a quantitative approach; approved by the Research Ethics Committee under the law of 4,264.733. A survey of 271 medical records of patients analyzed from January to December 2019 was carried out. From this total, 197 were selected, and 74 excluded. It was observed, female individuals were the most affected (63.96%), in an age range between 52 to 61 years. The most common diagnosis was low back pain / low back pain (27.92%) followed by tendon injuries (11.17%). The results of this research aim to help the physiotherapist to further know the predominant dysfunctions and the most affected public, being able to outline better strategies for the prevention and treatment of orthopedic pathologies.
