Abstract

A prescription must contain the necessary data for the correct use of the medications. Errors arising from inadequate prescription can result in serious damage to the health of patients. In this context, ANVISA - National Health Surveillance Agency published RDC No. 20/2011 in order to standardize the prescription and dispensing of antimicrobials, as this is a class that excessive and irrational use causes serious damage to the health of users. The objective of this research was to analyze the prescriptions of antimicrobials dispensed in a community pharmacy located in Recôncavo da Bahia. The prescriptions dispensed from January 2018 to January 2019 were analyzed. The data were tabulated in spreadsheets where the presence of the mandatory elements in an antimicrobial prescription was evaluated. For the analysis of drug interactions, the Micromedex® (MDX) database was used. 704 prescriptions were evaluated, the most prescribed class was that of beta-lactams (36.86%). According to legal requirements, no prescription had all the data considered mandatory in a prescription. Thus, it is necessary to develop more studies, awareness campaigns for patients and prescribers, and to have greater control both in the prescription and in the dispensation of these drugs.
