Abstract

Rotator cuff injury is one of the main causes of shoulder pain, being a condition with great prevalence, affecting 30-50% of the population, becoming a common health problem, impacting on personal and professional life. Supraspinal muscle injury occurs mainly due repetitive shoulder movements. This causing chronic pain and limitation of movements. This condition leads to a constant search for the physiotherapy service. The general objective of the study was to identify the physiotherapeutic approaches used in patients with supraspinal muscle tendinopathy. This is an integrative literature review, using Scielo and PubMed databases, between February and November 2020. Thirty-five articles were found and 6 were selected to compose this review. In view of the results found, it was realized that physical therapy treatment through the combination of therapeutic exercise, electrotherapy and manual therapy brings benefits to patients with supraspinatus muscle tendinopathy, improving functionality and quality of life. It is concluded that there is no one sovereign technique in relation to the other, but the rehabilitation of patients with supraspinatus muscle tendinopathy is more effective when the combination of therapeutic exercises with electrotherapy is used, enhancing the benefits of the results.
