Is a stress-free job possible? Strategies used as a way to cope with stress in the workplace
Abstract
The influence of work on people's lives can contribute to changes in physical and mental health, mainly resulting in occupational stress. The objective of the research was to identify the main strategies used as a way of coping with stress in the work environment and to describe the main stressful situations. The research was carried out through an integrative literature review, in the BVS-Virtual Health Library database, considering only articles published in the last 5 years. Among those selected, 12 articles were chosen that addressed stressful causes in the organizational environment, as well as presented coping strategies. According to the answers about which coping strategies the professionals adopted, Social Support, Self-control, Spirituality, Escape/avoidance and physical and leisure activities, Problem Solving, Relaxation Techniques and Alternative Therapies were found. The results obtained in this work are useful to identify the main stressful causes in the organizational context, as well as the main coping strategies.
