Abstract
Lipids have an essential physiological importance in the various biochemical processes. Its prevalence in the human diet and in university students is significantly high, mainly based on the increase in the consumption of fatty foods as a result of the so-called fast foods which, as a result of the hectic and stressful pace of modern society as well as college, have been sought after as the main food source. A questionnaire was applied to medical students at College Ages in the municipality of Irecê-BA regarding lipid intake, which showed an increase in consumption after entering the course in 58.2% (n=25/43) of students, in relation to frequency, 51.2% (n=22/43) stated that they often consume foods with a high lipid content, in the facilities acquired when choosing these foods practicality, speed and easy obtaining had 39.5% (n=17/43 ) of prevalence while flavor had 32.6% (n=14/43). From this perspective, it is possible to observe that there is a significant increase in the consumption of lipids by medical students, since, due to the extensive workload and the attenuating pace of the course, students resort to food prepared quickly and with high lipid content, leading to long-term risks of developing cardiovascular diseases.
