Psychosomatic illnesses in the lives of people in the process of illness: an integrative literature review

Abstract

The field of psychosomatics understands illnesses in general as a disorder of organic commands, it is assumed that illnesses have emotional factors that directly cause biological manifestations, where, taking into account current health care models, it requires qualified listening by professionals. to individuals in the process of illness, so that it is possible to understand them in their entirety. The aim of this study was to analyze the scientific literature on the implications of psychosomatic diseases in the integral condition of people, published from 2011 to 2021. It is characterized as an integrative review based on the selection of scientific articles published in Portuguese in the SciELO and LILACS databases. Eight articles dealing with the proposed object of study were included. It is concluded that there are multi-causal factors that interfere directly and indirectly in the illness process. As in a cycle, suffering influences the symptoms and are similarly influenced by them, causing physical, psychological and social damage, resulting in feelings of sadness, anguish and anxiety in seeking explanations about sensations that are not evidenced through exams and symptoms subjective and that cannot be easily attributed to a diagnosis.
